Shirley A. Cryder, 87, of Morris, IL, passed away October 28, 2022, at Morris Hospital. Shirley was born in Gardner, IL, on March 18, 1935, the daughter of the late Erlan and Meta (Sorenson) Louch.

Shirley was employed by Caterpillar for 26 years and retired in the summer of 1987. Shirley married the love of her life James Cryder on August 21, 1954, and he preceded her in death on July 15, 2010. Together they shared a beautiful life and children.

Shirley enjoyed doing anything outdoors, including gardening, sitting in her swing, talking with the neighbors, and going boating on Lake Lizzie, Minnesota. Her grandchildren meant the world to her, she would always attend their sporting events to show her support. Her grandchildren will always remember her pancakes and homemade chocolate chip cookies. When the weather was nice, Shirley loved visiting downtown Chicago and the riverwalk. She will be dearly missed by many.

Shirley is survived by: Linda Wilson, Robert Cryder (Dawn) and Kim Cryder (Tim Blankenstein), 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Shirley had an abundance of special friends, including her loving caregivers.

Preceded in death by her husband James Cryder; Son, Ken Cryder; Grandson, Shawn; Great-grandson, Alex; Son-in-law, Bill; Two sisters, Erla Meier and Kay Clover.

A visitation for Shirley will be held Wednesday, November 2, 2022, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at The First Presbyterian Church in Morris, IL. A celebration of her life will follow immediately after at 7:00 PM. Officiated by Rev. Bruce Jones. Cremation rites will be accorded. Inurnment will take place at Sample Cemetery at a later date.
