Lannie R. Spreitzer, known to all as L.R., age 60 of Coal City,IL.  formerly of Elwood, passed away at Morris Medical Center early Wednesday, April 6, 2022, in the arms of his loving wife and surrounded by his children.

He was born August 31, 1961 in Joliet to Ray and Sue Spreitzer. Lannie grew up with three brothers and two sisters in Elwood, running around with his older brother Terry, enjoying the outdoors and trying to avoid getting into too much trouble. After graduating from Joliet East High School Class of 1979, Lannie worked at Joliet Rental and was a volunteer firefighter with East Joliet Fire Department before settling into a 30-year career at Exxon-Mobil. After being hired at Mobil, he joined Mobil’s fire brigade where he eventually made Captain.

Lannie was introduced to the love of his life, Leslie Roy, by her late uncle Jerry while bowling at Town and Country Lanes in Joliet.  They married in Joliet on May 16, 1992. Lannie adopted Leslie’s two children, Bryan and Sarah, shortly after their marriage. The family settled in Coal City in 1993 where Lannie promptly volunteered to join the Coal City Fire Department. A loving and devoted husband and father, Lannie was an avid outdoorsman, shade-tree mechanic, and musky hunter. A passionate and driven firefighter, he loved his family and friends and always had a deep love for the “Northwoods” of northern Wisconsin.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Leslie; his son, Bryan (Jordan) Spreitzer, daughter, Sarah Spreitzer, his grandchildren, Hayli Gomillion, Liam Sullivan, Erin, Mace, and one on the way (Sabine Elara) Spreitzer; his mother, Sue Spreitzer; his brothers, Terry (Melinda) Spreitzer, Devry (the late Jodi) Spreitzer, Jaimy (Caroline) Spreitzer and his sisters, Lacinda (Cecil) Shawver and Tanya (Mitch) Goslinowski . He is also survived by nearly 20 in-laws, 21 nieces and nephews, 22 great nieces and nephews and two more on the way.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Spreitzer.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 7:00 p.m. at the Ferrari Funeral Chapel, 1044 Ferrari Drive, Coal City, IL. 60416. Rev. Joshua Miller will officiate.
