Jay C. Shenberg, age 72, of Morris, Illinois, passed away peacefully June 24, 2022. Born in Chicago, on January 14, 1950, Jay was the son of Merv and Betty N. (Nibow) Shenberg. Jay went on to marry his true love of 38 years Patricia A. (Powers) Shenberg.

Jay’s lifelong passion was being a pharmacist. At a very young age, Jay knew it was his life’s calling. Following his dream, Jay attended University of Illinois Champaign. After graduating, Jay went onto attend pharmacy school at the University of Illinois, Chicago. Jay was a pharmacist at the local Morris Jewel Osco Pharmacy for 20 years. A truly hard-working man, he also worked at the Morris and Chicago Hospitals.

Jay had a lifelong love for the Chicago Cubs. He also enjoyed being able to watch his grandchildren play sports and cheer them on from the sidelines. Jay took great pride in being a grandfather.

Jay enjoyed traveling and seeing the United States. One of his favorite travel destinations was Las Vegas, Nevada. You could find Jay in a casino sitting and winning at a poker machine. He also enjoyed watching movies and nothing was better than a good Steve Martin movie.

Jay will be remembered for leading all the family services in Hebrew on the Jewish holidays, especially Passover.

Survivors include his children; Kennedy (Amanda Hui-Fen-Lin) Shenberg, Chris Shenberg, Chad Shenberg, Sean (Carrie) Shenberg, Seth (Heidi) Shenberg, and Jennifer (Nick) Cowan; 14 grandchildren, Meghan, Connor, Rogan, Alexis (Trevor) Current, Grant, Timothy, Tiana, Dhristin (Abbey), Devin, Zoewie and Amelia Shenberg, Graham and Tenley Cowan; 4 great-grandchildren, Myles, Maxwell and Daelynn Shenberg, and Harrison Current; siblings Esther (Bill DeGryse) Shenberg, and Randy O. (Sandee) Shenberg; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia A. (Powers) Shenberg, and his parents.

A visitation will be held Tuesday June 28, 2022, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, at UC Davis-Callahan Funeral Home, with a service to follow at 11:00 am. Jay will be immediately laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery in Morris, IL.
