Gary E. Patton, 74, of Morris, IL passed away March 5, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Gary was born in Streator, IL on November 12, 1948, to his parents Eugene and Florence (Saleda) Patton. Gary enlisted in the Marine Corps November 15, 1966 and served until August 11, 1969. During his time in the Marines, he received several Medals: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with device, Vietnam Service Medal with 1 star, Rifle Sharpshooter’s Badge, and a Good Conduct Medal. After serving in Vietnam, he started working at Exxonmobil and retired from there after 35 years.
Gary married the love of his life Mitsi Pollow in Morris, IL at The Peace Lutheran Church on May 22, 1982. Together they had two beautiful children; Jenny Patton, born January 12, 1985, and Shane Patton, born March 3, 1987. Gary's family was his greatest joy and he was happiest when the family was all together.
Survived by his wife, Mitsi Patton (Pollow); Children, Jenny (Teddy) Patton and Shane (Cari) Patton; Father, Eugene Patton; Sibling’s, Sally (Andy) Marks, and Steve (Josh Buehrens) Patton; Niece’s, Brooke Bardash and Holly (Ryan) Howell; Nephew, Luke Bardash; Sister’s-in-law, Sheri (Bob) Bardash and Kristi (Marty) Lacefield.
Preceded in death by his mother, Florence Patton and his mother-in-law, Ramona Pollow.
A private family memorial service will be held for Gary the weekend of March 11th. The service will be officiated by Celebrant Carol Walker. Cremation rites have been accorded.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the multiple sclerosis society in honor of his niece Brooke.
