The new Morris Business & Community Development Commission had their first meeting on Tuesday. The commission is comprised of seven local business leaders volunteering to advise the Mayor, Business Development Director, and City Council on strategies to revitalize existing business and attract new ones to the community.
Mayor Chris Brown spoke about the members of the new commission at the council meeting on Monday.
The Commission has an emphasis on the downtown Morris area, but will set their sights on of all commercial and industrial areas in the city. Steve Barr will serve as President and each member will serve a two-year term. Alderman Duane Wolfe is the liaison to the City Council.
Meanwhile, Alderman Derrick Wren will serve as a member of the Planning Commission to fill the vacancy of Duane Wolfe to the Business Development Committee.
