The Illinois State Police will conduct Occupant Restraint Enforcement Patrols and Nighttime Enforcement patrols in District 5 during June to ensure compliance with seat belt and child safety seat laws.

The OREPs will focus on enforcing seat belt laws for all vehicle passengers, while child safety seat laws will also be enforced. NITE patrols, active from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., will target impaired driving and occupant restraint violations, including DUI, failure to use safety belts and child restraints, speeding, distracted driving, and other violations.

Additionally, the ISP will carry out Roadside Safety Checks in the mentioned counties, combining awareness and enforcement to save lives. The ISP has a zero-tolerance policy for impaired driving.

They will also deploy Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement patrols to prevent impaired driving and address alcohol or drug violations. Furthermore, the ISP will focus on combating distracted driving through the Distracted Driving Enforcement Program, targeting violations such as texting, browsing the internet, and handheld device use.

The enforcement campaigns are funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
