Steven G. Thompson (Steve), age 69, passed away October 2, 2021, at Arrowhead Hospital near his principal residence in Glendale, AZ, due to Covid-19.

Steve was born to Milton Thompson and June (Chally) Thompson in Morris, IL. He attended Saratoga Elementary School and graduated from Morris Community High School in 1969. Steve attended Joliet Junior College and achieved an Associates at Business degree in 1971. After a brief stint at Dekalb Seed Company, Steve entered the metal industry with a sales position at Lyon Metal Mfg in Montgomery, IL, and then worked at Alumax. Steve continued his successful career in sales with Reliance Metal Center in Phoenix where he worked almost 40 years and retired as Director of Sales.

He was a fantastic mentor and enjoyed sports throughout his early life including bowling and golf. Steve loved watching baseball games and attending them with friends and family. He loved playing card games and also enjoyed playing backgammon and dominoes and practically any game that involved spending time with others. He will be remembered for his laughter and smile, his ability to make light jokes and for the joy he brought to a room. Steve's Lutheran faith was evident throughout his selfless life of serving others and helping anyone in need and always willing to lend a hand. His generosity touched the lives and hearts of many.

A beloved husband, father, son, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother and friend that will be deeply missed.  Steve married Cindy Chesney in 1986, and was a wonderful father to her three children: Ryan (Janine) Chesney, Dawn (Craig) Lonsdale and Renee Blackwell.

He is preceded in death by his father Milton Thompson, his father-in-law James L. Christ, mother-in-law Harriet Christ and brother-in-law James K. Christ.

Steve is survived by his wife Cindy (Chesney), his children Ryan (Janine) Chesney, Dawn (Craig) Lonsdale and Renee Blackwell, his mother June (Chally)Thompson and siblings in Illinois.. brother Rich (Marilyn) Thompson, and sisters Debra (Gary) Bounds, Diane (Brian) Gagliardo and Lisa (Mark) Friel. Steve is also survived by 10 grandkids and 3 great-grandkids and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held in his honor at Best Funeral Services in Peoria, Arizona, on November 10, at 3:00 PM. Flower arrangements are welcome. A private reception will be held off-site. Best Funeral Services, 9380 West Peoria Avenue, Peoria, AZ, 85345 (623) 486-1955
