Shirley Ann Roe Love of Morris, IL was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday March 8th 2023, after an extended battle with cancer. Shirley passed away in Tallahassee, Florida surrounded by her loving family.
Shirley was born October 26, 1946 in Morris, IL to Leland and Pauline (Steen) Roe. She spent the majority of her childhood in southern Ohio learning homemaking skills from her beloved grandmother Bertha Roe. Shirley graduated from Morris Community High School with the class of 1964.
Shirley had the gift of hospitality, hosting many events in her home. Christmas was extra special to her and decorating was a well orchestrated event. Shirley volunteered her time arranging tours for the Glory Land Gospel Team, teaching handwriting classes for homeschool students, scrapbooking church events, and in later years calling church shut ins.
Shirley and her husband Alan operated Love’s Professional Photography in Morris for over 30 years. She was known for baking 100 dozen cookies for the Morris Police and Fire Departments, Grundy County Sheriff’s Department and Morris Police’s Craft with a Cop every Christmas, all of whom will dearly miss her cookies.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 43 years Alan Love of Morris, IL, her children: Ed (Pam) Hemmersbach of Owensboro, KY, Kimberly Erickson Bezely of Morris, IL, Amanda Love (Merle) Barber of Tallahassee, FL, Belinda Love of Independence, MO, LoRee Love of Independence, MO, Saria Love (Alex Allsopp) of Detroit Lakes, MN, grandchildren Joshua (Sara) Hemmersbach, Raesha (Blake) Weaver, Taya (Jacob Stanley) Hemmersbach, Nicole (Tim) Frakes, Jacob (Tori Manno) Bezely, Ryan Bezely, Carl, Madelon, Emmaline and Annabelle Barber, Katie and Chris Morones, Nick (Mary Centko) Villarreal, Jazmine and Frisco Villarreal, Jason and Javan Martinez, Jake and Christian Love, Lilly and Maddox Love, 12 great grand children with one on the way, her sister Virginia Roe Yunker, her brother, Kevin (Barb) Roe, and several nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Edmund R. Hemmersbach and her second husband David N. Erickson.
Shirley will be laid to rest at Sample Cemetery at 10am on Saturday, March 18th. Family will receive visitors starting at 11 am at First Baptist Church of Morris followed by a memorial service at 11:30am with luncheon to follow. All who wish to come and share fond memories of our mom and grandma are welcome.
