Rex P. King 67 of Morris passed away unexpectedly Tuesday August 10, 2021, while working as a janitor at First United Methodist Church in Morris.

Born October 8, 1953, in Clinton Illinois, he was the son of the late Robert and Doris (Phelps) King.

Rex grew up in Lockport, attending the schools in Lockport graduating from Lockport High School with the class of 1971. 

On December 23, 1977, he married Sandra Book, enjoying 44 years of marriage.

Rex began his career, that was dear to his heart in Law Enforcement with Romeoville Police Department in 1978 where he would work for 18 years.  After retiring from Romeoville, he joined Braidwood Police department in 1998 where he started as patrolman then being promoted as a Detective Sgt and retiring from Braidwood as a Sgt. In 2013.

He enjoyed working on cars especially his VW.  Rex also enjoyed woodworking and was a model train enthusiast.   Rex could fix anything and whether it was cars or woodworking, he did it best!

Surviving is his wife Sandy, one son Jason and a grandson Sean.   One brother Mark (Dianne) of Georgia.  Preceding Rex in death is his son Adam in 2008 and sister-in-law Alice.

Visitation for Rex will be 4:00 – 7:00 pm Friday August 13, 2021, at the U. C. Davis-Callahan Funeral Home in Morris. Enhanced video tributes will play throughout the services.  A Celebration of Rex’s life will be 10:30 am Saturday August 14, 2021, at U.C. Davis-Callahan Funeral Home located at 301 West Washington Street, Morris, IL.  Officiating the service will be Pastor Robert Sathuri of the First United Methodist Church.  Burial will be in Barnet Cemetery in Lockport, Il.
