Norma J. Arnsdorff, 82, of Morris, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2021. Born June 28, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Claude L. and Bernice E. (Claypool) Bottomley.

Norma attended Opdyke Grade School and Morris Community High School graduating in the Class of 1957.  She went on to attend Northern Illinois University.  Norma worked at the Anderson Theater during high school and then was a switchboard operator for Illinois Bell where she met Robert L. Arnsdorff of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

On October 24, 1959, she married Robert L. Arnsdorff at the First Baptist Church and they spent most of their married life in Morris.  They are the parents of Claudette (Jeff) Swiggett and their children Melanie (Chris) Zierman, and their children Rylie and Kaden Linn, Colin and Regan Zierman, Dan (Kelsey) Swiggett and their children, Brinley and Brody, and Samantha (Colin) Goerdt and their daughter Anastasia.  Also surviving is second daughter Carol (Arnold) Brewer and their family, Andrew (Whitney) Brewer and their children Sophia and Channing, Scott (Stephanie) Brewer and their son Oliver, and Catherine (Matt) Tidball and her stepson Ethan.  Also surviving is her youngest daughter Nancy (Keith) Hiney and their daughter Amelia.  Norma is also survived by one brother Kenneth (Anita) Bottomley.

 She is proceeded in death by her parents and her loving husband, Robert.

Norma provided and taught children’s music at the First Baptist Church for many years.  She also played the piano for worship services at First Baptist and several other Morris area churches, most recently at   Grace Lutheran Church.  Piano and guitar were a major part of her life and she was very generous sharing those talents.  She loved to play for her family and accompanied her grandchildren for several performances.

Norma always provided a welcoming home for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and their families.  They enjoyed All-Family Vacations and took many cruises to places like Hawaii, the Caribbean and Europe.  Norma and Robert also spent many winters in Orange Beach, Alabama.

Preferred memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Morris, Illinois.

A visitation for Norma will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021 from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Morris. A celebration of Norma’s life will follow at 12:00 pm, officiated by Pastor Steve Larson. Burial will be held at Sample Cemetery.
