Maxine Ellen (McTague) Brooks, age 89, passed away November 20, 2018 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Maxine was born July 5, 1929, in Morris, the daughter of the late Fabian and Olive (Patton) McTague.

Raised and educated in Morris, Maxine graduated from Morris Community High School with the Class of 1947. She married Dale Brooks on March 6, 1948 at Crown Point, Indiana.  He preceded her in death in 2010.

Maxine helped Dale farm, build their first home, and raise four children. An avid reader, Maxine began working at the Morris Public Library as an Administrative Assistant in August of 1974 until retirement in 1983. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, trivia and music. She loved spending time with her family and friends and they remember her for her twinkling blue eyes, infectious smile and dimples.

Surviving are two sons, Larry (Kathy) Brooks of Normal, IL, Timothy (Renee) Brooks of Nixa, MO, and one daughter, Wendy (Brian) Delrose of Morris, IL; seven grandchildren: Jade Dale, Paul Sabreena, Emily, Sean, Timothy and Nadalee; five great-grandchildren: Jett, Ella, Payton Maxine, Emmett Dale, and Joey; one brother, Richard McTague, and two sisters-in-law, Merle McTague and Geraldine McTague.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; son, Bruce; her parents; four siblings, Doris Tucker, Gerald McTague, Bonnie McTague, and Joanne McNeely; two brothers-in-law, Burt Tucker and Ken McNeely.

Visitation will be held Saturday, November 24, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at the U. C. Davis-Callahan Funeral Home in Morris.  A Celebration of Maxine’s Life will be held immediately following the visitation, officiated by Dr. Chuck Richardson. Burial will be in Sample Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Maxine’s name to a recipient of the donor’s choice.
