Joanne Marie Symoniak, 74, of Verona, formerly of Bolingbrook and Pekin, IL, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 17, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born June 12, 1947 in Chicago, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Harazmus and Bernice Liss  (Russell) Garrett.

Joanne married Joseph Anthony Symoniak November 12, 1966. He preceded her on February 23, 1998. She retired from Lucent Technologies (AT&T) after 25 years of service.

Joanne loved watching her kids and grandsons play baseball and softball. She especially loved watching the Chicago White Sox play!  Her favorite pastimes were playing Bingo and slot machines, going to garage sales and area festivals. She also volunteered many years with the Bolingbrook Jaycees.

Survived by her son, Anthony (Christina Hintze) Symoniak of Verona, and daughter, Annamarie (Thomas) Nolin of Bloomington; grandchildren: Cole Hintze, Tyler, Trent & Tanner Nolin. Grandpups Maxie, Casey, Ruby and Shadow; she is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded by her husband Joseph, her parents, Joseph and Bernice, her stepfather, Russell Garret, and her brother, Gerald Harazmus.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 22, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at the U.C. Davis-Callahan Funeral Home in Morris. Family and friends are welcome to wear their favorite White Sox attire.  A Celebration of Joanne’s Life will immediately follow the visitation, officiated by Pastor Kevin Yandell. A graveside service will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Justice, IL at 12:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joanne’s name to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA  22116-7023.
