Donna Lee (Doudna) Poundstone passed away Tuesday evening January 7, 2020 with her family at her bedside. 

She was born June 16, 1946 in Chicago and went to Wheaton Central High School where she was an active member of 4H, honor society and Latin club.  She was a member of the pom-pom squad during her undergraduate studies at Illinois State University then went on to earn her Master’s degree in elementary education from Northern Illinois University.  For 35 years, Donna taught elementary school in Minooka and was also the districts’ computer specialist.

Ken and Donna were married on May 7, 1996 by Pastor Chuck Richardson at the First Christian Church in Morris, IL.  She was an avid, lifelong, golfer and a member of the Fox Bend ladies golf league in Oswego.  After retirement, she and her husband Ken enjoyed golf vacations to Gulf Shores and also Naples and Seabring Florida.

Donna was pre-deceased by Edgar Irving Doudna (father), Beulah Leotta Jordan-Doudna (mother), John Schubkegel (brother-in-law), Catherine Poundstone (mother-in-law) and Judy Poundstone (sister-in-law). 

Survived by Ken Poundstone (husband), Jody Schubkegel (sister), and family members, Dale Poundstone, Nancy Allen, Bob and Diane Poundstone, Teri and Jeff Shaw, Chad Poundstone, Jeff and Anna Poundstone, Kate Schubkegel, Todd and Jeannette Schubkegel, and grandchildren, Summer, Conner and Sophia Shaw, Curran Poundstone, Matt, Sam and Emily Poundstone.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 11, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the U.C. Davis-Callahan Funeral Home. A Celebration of Donna’s Life will immediately follow.  Officiating will be Pastor Scott Zorn of First Christian Church.

Per Donna's wishes, after the short service, all are invited to a good old fashioned Irish get together with music, food and drink to enjoy each other’s company and most of all celebrate life at the celebration room of UC Davis Callahan Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to any of Donna’s favorite charities, Grundy – Three Rivers Habitat for Humanity, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, We Care of Grundy County and the First Christian Church of Morris.
