David “Captain” Todd 67 of Morris passed away after a courageous battle with cancer Thursday evening August 6, 2020 at St. Joseph Hospital in Joliet. Born June 29, 1953 in Minooka, Illinois the son of the late Richard and Anna (George) Todd.
Raised and educated in Minooka, Dave had a love for being on the river and Dave began working on barges for Material Service. Dave became known as the “Captain”. After retiring from Material Service, Dave began working for Illinois Marine Towing spending more time on the River. Dave also had a love for Harley Davidson motorcycle and loved to ride.
He married Linda Bloomfield, she preceded him in death in 1983. On February 24, 2000 he married his best friend Wanda Flatt.
Surviving is his wife, best friend and care taker of 20 years Wanda, and four children; David (Amy) Todd, Joe Todd, Andrew (Laurie) Planeta and Jimmy (Courtney Schaefer) Poole. Eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Loving Uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Friends would say, ”Dave was a nice man with a big heart.”
Preceded in death by his first wife Linda and one sister Linda Harrington in 2008.
On Saturday August 29, 2020 at 2:00 pm biker friends and family will gather at Dave and Wanda’s home to ride together to Brandt’s/Heap’s Tavern on Rt. 47 in Morris where a celebration of Dave’s life will be held. This is how Dave would like everyone to remember him and to celebrate his life.
