Daniel R. Misener, age 77, passed away Thursday, July 22, 2021, at Morris Hospital. Born July 26, 1943, in Mazon, he was the son of the late Lyle and Evelyn (Ryder) Misener.

Dan grew up on the family farm and attended the Mazon schools, graduating from Mazon High School with the class of 1961. He was the Senior Class President and captain of the basketball team. In 1963 he married Ann Bannon and they had two children, Holly and Daniel II. While living in Grundy County he was on the Grundy County Board of Appeals. He married Patricia Dunn in 1985 and they lived in Channahon IL for 3 years, later relocating to Seneca in 1989. While in Seneca he was on the Zoning Board for 10 years and the Chairman for 9 years and also served on the Valley Bank Board. He and his wife opened River Drive Storage in 1993. He enjoyed helping his children with fixing and repairing their homes. He loved taking care of his large yard and garden, boating, vacationing in the Dells. He retired from Lyondell Basell in Morris in 2000 and sold River Drive Storage in 2015 and moved to Marseilles.

Dan is survived by his loving wife Patti, of 36 years: his children Holly (Art) Hanley, Dan II Misener: stepsons Jeff and Justin Peterson; grandchildren: Artur Hanley, Rose Gillespie, Thomas, Michael, Peter, Matthew, Mark, and Elizabeth Hanley, Jacob, Dalton, and Anna Misener; 9 great grandchildren; sister Judy (Bob) Goetsch and numerous nephews and nieces.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Ken and sister-in-law Barb and grandson John Hanley.

A visitation for Dan will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2021, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the U.C. Davis-Callahan Funeral Home in Morris. A celebration of Dan’s life will follow at 11:00 am, officiated by Funeral Celebrant Carol Walker. Burial will follow at Mazon Brookside Cemetery.
