Colin R. “Cole” Oakes, age 64 years, of Gardner, IL., passed away on Friday, September 18, 2020 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home surrounded by his family.

Cole was born February 3, 1956 in Evergreen Park, IL. to William and Jeanne (nee Collier) Oakes. He graduated from Hillcrest Community High School. Cole married Wendy Heitmann on March 31, 1979 at the First Lutheran Church of Blue Island. He worked as a service writer for Dodge City of Countryside and Conrad’s Harley Davidson of Joliet. He also worked as a parts delivery driver for Fischer Auto Parts in Coal City. Cole enjoyed a cold Busch Light and the company of his son’s friends.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Wendy Oakes; his father, William Oakes; his sons, Toby (Jillian) Oakes and Kyle (Tiffany) Oakes; his grandchildren, Irene and Helen Oakes and Olivia Gray; his brothers, Kevin (Jacqui) Oakes and Greg (Clarita) Oakes; numerous nieces and nephews and his “fur sons” Bernie and Charlie.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Jeanne Oakes.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, September 25, 2020 from 4:00 pm until the time of the Memorial Funeral Service at 7:00 pm at the Ferrari Funeral Chapel, 1044 Ferrari Drive, Coal City, IL. 60416. Dr. Craig Nelson will officiate.
