Carl Donnelly, 93, of Ottawa passed away Sunday, November 17, 2019 at Pleasant View.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at Ottawa Funeral Home, with Rev. Duane Kaufman officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 - 11:00 Wednesday, one hour prior to services, at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery. with Military Services.

Carl was born December 5, 1925 in Marseilles, Illinois to Carl and Rosella (Siebert) Donnelly. He married Geraldine McGinnis and together they raised three sons in Grand Ridge, Illinois. He served in the US Army in World War II. He was awarded the bronze star, purple heart, good conduct, victory metal WWII, WWII occup metal, and the combat infantry badge. He also received the European African Middle Eastern Theater ribbon with two bronze campaign stars. Carl worked most of his life as a carpenter and cabinet maker. He had his own roofing and siding business for many years. Carl was a life member of the VFW and the American Legion.

He is survived by two sons, Jerald (Renee) and Harry (Brenda); four grandchildren, Robert, Linda, Devon, and Scarlett; two great-grandchildren, Eva and Vivi; and his brothers, Gerald (Joyce), Kenneth, Gary (Diane), and Raymond.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine; his parents, Carl and Rosella; his son, Terry; his daughter-in-law, Julie; two sisters, Nora (Bonnie) Wagner and Helen Howell; and one brother, Donald.

Pallbearers will be Steve Martin, Mike White, Steve Miller, Robert Donnelly, Dave Stafford, and Chuck Brue.
