Blanch L. Carpenter, age 96, of Florida, formerly of Coal City, passed away on August 25, 2021 at her home with her children by her side.
Blanch was born on October 3, 1924 to Gjerluf and Lula Olsen in Gardner, IL. and attended Gardner schools. On February 4, 1950 she married her sweetheart, Thomas Carpenter. They lived in Coal City and raised 4 children before moving to Florida in 1979. Thomas preceded her in death in 1998 after 48 years of marriage.
Surviving are her sons, Danny (Joanie) Carpenter of Coal City and Paul Carpenter of Astor, FL.; her daughter, Kim Craterfield of Coal City; 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; her son, Tom Carpenter; her parents, Gjerluf and Lula Olsen; her siblings, Pearl Brown and Alvin Olsen; her son-in-law, Bob Craterfield and her brother-in-law, Dick Brown.
Per Blanch’s wishes, cremation rites have been honored. Private family services will be held at a later date.
