The Morris Police Department arrested a woman after striking a Morris Fire Department vehicle in downtown Morris around 6:20 p.m. on Thursday, January 14th.
The Morris Police Department said a fire truck that was stopped at the stop sign facing north on Wauponsee Street near Washington Street was struck by a vehicle driven by Joanna Locher, 65, of Morris. Police officials say Locher was backing out of a parking space and struck the driver side of the fire truck.
After the incident, Locher sat in her vehicle until a Morris Police officer arrived. Police officials say Locher then walked away from the scene into a nearby liquor establishment where she went into the bathroom. The police department said Locher then exited the bathroom as she was slurring her words and swaying back and forth.
The Morris Fire Department told WCSJ that the fire vehicle was not damaged and no injuries were reported. Locher was charged with two counts of DUI and unsafe backing from a road. She posted a $100 bond and was released.
