A Will County man pled guilty in Grundy County on January 8th. Charles Robinette, 52, of Wilmington entered into a blind guilty plea to the charge of Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding Police, a class four felony. As part of the plea agreement, two class four felony charges were dropped.
The Grundy County Sheriff’s Department said Robinette failed to stop for an officer near Railroad and Jefferson Street in Gardner, resulting in a chase that ended in the 8800 block of East Reed Road in Braceville on April 20th of 2019.
After the traffic stop, Robinette was arrested for Aggravated Fleeing to Elude Police, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Cannabis 30-100 Grams, Driving While License Revoked, Speeding 25MPH Over the Limit, Speeding 15MPH Over the Limit, Operating Uninsured Motor Vehicle and 5 counts of Disobey Stop Sign.
No injuries were reported during the pursuit that reached speeds up to 70 miles per hour. Robinette will be sentenced by Grundy County Judge Lance Peterson during a sentencing hearing on April 7th.
