A 34-year-old Wilmington man was arrested for allegedly battering several family members in the 1500 block of North Kankakee Street on December 31st.
Wilmington Police Chief Phil Arnold said Titus Hiera allegedly attacked two of his family members in what appeared to be a psychotic rage. When officers arrived on the scene, Hiera again became aggressive, this time towards the officers.
After allegedly punching and kicking one of the Wilmington officers, Hiera resisted arrest as another Wilmington officer and Will County Sheriff's Deputy attempted to take him into custody. Officers had to deploy a taser before finally getting control of Hiera.
Due to Hiera’s emotional state, he was transported to Riverside Hospital in Kankakee for a psychological evaluation. Hiera was charged with Aggravated Domestic Battery/Strangulation and two counts of Aggravated Batter to a Police Officer, all class two felonies; Aggravated Battery to a Senior Citizen, a class three felony and three counts of domestic battery.
He was transported to the Will County Jail.
