A Will County man was sentenced in a Grundy County courtroom this week. The Coal City Police Department arrested Delwin Fields, 58, of Braidwood for DUI, felony driving while license suspended and other traffic offenses on December 31st of 2017.
In January of 2018, Fields was indicted by a Grundy County grand jury on two counts of Aggravated DUI, both class four felonies. Fields entered a blind guilty plea to one count of Aggravated DUI last November and the Grundy County State’s Attorney’s Office suggested a sentence no longer than two years in prison.
During a sentencing hearing on January 11th,Fields was sentenced to 18 months in the Illinois Department of Corrections. This comes before the defense and prosecution agreed to the 18 month sentence. Fields was given credit for serving 4 days in the Grundy County Jail.
