Ask the many 4-H’ers in Grundy County and they will tell you about the passion, enthusiasm, and care that Theodora Warmack gives to the 4-H program. Theodora’s dedication to 4-H and her passion made the choice for this year’s inductee into the 4-H Hall of Fame a no brainer. Theodora will be inducted in the Illinois 4-H Hall of Fame in August alongside other inductees from across the state – joining an amazing group of Hall of Fame inductees.
Warmack’s 4-H career began in Will County, where she became involved with a homeschool club. She still fondly remembers creating birdbaths from giant rhubarb leaves, one of her memorable experiences of 4-H workshops. Upon moving to Marseilles, Theodora was one of the founding members of the Homes Cool Kids 4-H Club – a club that started with 10 members and has grown to over 50. Inspired by the leaders around her, she eventually became a leader and since then, has always been heavily involved in the 4-H program.
Theodora always has a place for 4-H and routinely volunteers for things such as Expansion and Review, Extension Council, assisting in fundraising efforts, co-leading the general projects areas at the 4-H Fair, and assisting wherever needed. All three of her children were in 4-H and received many high honors – they now credit these honors to their mom’s unending support and passion. She continues to volunteer and give back to help support the youth of Grundy County.
Outside of 4-H, Warmack helped found Joshua 1:9 Mission, an organization which helps provide support to cancer patients, teaches English, has started a small business focused on her faith, and is involved in her community.
Theodora continues to be a guiding force in her community and we are very grateful that she has chosen to stay involved in Grundy County. When we talk about finding our “Spark” in 4-H, we can think of no one better to recognize this year – Theodora Warmack has that 4-H “Spark” as she works to nurture and foster that spark in the youth of Grundy County. We know that, even though her kids have grown, we will always be able to count on Theodora to support 4-H!
