Teen Teacher Sarah Rossi, age 14, 4-H club Homes Cool Kids, number of years in 4-H- 8
Why did you join 4-H, why have you stayed in and plan on staying in 4-H into the future?
My older siblings, Josh and Leah, were already attending the meetings so I started as a Cloverbud and then became a club member when I turned 8. I greatly enjoy showing my projects at the county and state fairs and helping others through community service projects.
What projects you have been in, are in and are planning on being in before you age out?
My current interests are projects in Wildlife, Floriculture, and Small Pets.
Any special events you have been in, are in or are planning on being in (such as leadership events, state events, etc.)
I have been to the Junior Leadership Conference twice and have attended the State Fair numerous times.
Why you became a Teen Leader/Teen Teacher, what have you done since you started in the program and what you’d like to do in the future?
My mom and 4-H leaders strongly encouraged me to attend the Teen Teacher training. Since then, I’ve enjoyed helping and teaching at nature workshops. I also have enjoyed meeting other Teen Teachers in the area.
What skills has being a Teen Leader taught you and how will you apply those skills in the future?
Planning, organizing, and presenting information to a group. I also am able to share my interests with others. Speaking to people in a group is a valuable skill to develop.
Why others should consider being a Teen Leader/Teacher?
It’s a great way to gain confidence, work with others, and experience many fun activities and projects.
Being a Teen Teacher has provided Sarah with an opportunity to share her passions with others! With Shannon’s support, Sarah is gaining confidence in leading group activities and presenting information on a variety of topics. Plus, she has gotten to meet so many other terrific 4-H members.
