Two people were injured in an accident that occurred on Interstate 80 westbound lanes in Will County around 4:10 a.m. on Thursday, June 10th. The Illinois State Police said unit one, which was a semi, lost control of the vehicle and ran off the roadway striking the cable barrier on the left side of the road.
As a result, Unit 1 rolled over on the driver side. Unit 2, also a semi-truck was not able to stop in time and struck Unit 1,. After the impact Unit 2 struck the cable barriers on the left side of the road and rolled over on its side. The driver of Unit 1 was transported to a local area hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of unit 2 was transported to a local area hospital with minor injuries. Interstate 80 was closed in both directions for the traffic crash investigation for approximately 2 hours. At approximately 6:53 all westbound lanes of Interstate 80 were reopened to traffic.
At approximately 8:10 a.m. all eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 were reopened to traffic. The Illinois State Police did not release the names of the drivers of the semi-trucks.
