Two people were injured in an accident that occurred in Morris around 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 9th.

The Morris Police Department said a vehicle driven by a male juvenile was southbound on North Route 47 when he rear-ended a motorcycle operated by Patrick Butts of Morris.

Butts told the Morris Police Department he was stopped in the southbound lanes of Route 47 and trying to turn westbound onto East Illinois Avenue.

During the collision, Butts said he grabbed his son as they went to the ground while his motorcycle continued moving across East Illinois Avenue.

Police officials say the juvenile stated his accelerator was stuck and would not let up, causing the collision. Butts and his son were transported to Morris Hospital. The juvenile was given a citation for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
