Two Grundy County Republican State Representatives have announced their re-election bids.
State Representative David Welter announced his intention to run for re-election in the newly drawn 75th Illinois House of Representative District. The District includes parts of Grundy, DeKalb, LaSalle, and Kendall counties. Rep. Welter has served in office since 2016.
He’s the Minority Spokesperson for the Energy and Environment committee and the Republican Conference Chairman in the House Republican Caucus.
Meanwhile, State Representative Jackie Haas announced her re-election bid as state representative of the 79th District. In December of 2020, Haas was sworn into the Illinois House following her election the previous month.
The legality of the Illinois legislative map remains in federal court, with the case scheduled to start in December. The 79th District includes all or part of the following counties: Kankakee, Cook, Grundy, and Will.
