Traffic crashes topped the incidents reported in Minooka Chief of Police Justin Meyer’s annual police report presented at Tuesday’s meeting of the Minooka Village Board of Trustees.

The village had 203 traffic crashes in 2019, a figure which increased from 188 the prior year. Meyer attributed the rise in traffic crashes reported nationally to distracted driving and population growth.

Among the intersections where incidents tend to be more likely to occur is at Ridge Road/Interstate 80, Ridge Road/Mondamin Street, Ridge Road/Twin Rail Drive, Ridge Road/McEvilly Road, Ridge Road/Industrial Drive. Meyer explained why he believes crime remains low in the village.
