Three people were injured in two separate accidents that occurred on Interstate 55 northbound lanes near Braceville around 10 p.m. on Tuesday.

The Braceville Fire Department said a vehicle struck a deer causing it to rollover and ended up coming to a rest on the interstate.

The three occupants inside that vehicle were able to get out. A short time later, another vehicle struck the original vehicle.

Fire officials say the three people involved in the original accident were transported to Morris Hospital for their injuries. The Illinois State Police is investigating the accident.
