Three individuals are accused of dealing large amounts of heroin in Grundy County.
The Grundy County Pro-Active Unit arrested Eric Caldera-Caldera, 40, of Morris, David Lopez, 45, of Diamond and Jorge Muniz, 50, of Morris after a traffic stop was conducted in the Coal City/Diamond area around 12:30 p.m. on September 7th.
The traffic stop was conducted due to multiple equipment violations and officers also observed indicators of criminal activity. The three individuals gave consent to search the vehicle and one kilogram or 2.2 pounds of heroin was seized.
All three individuals were charged with manufacturing and delivering more than 900 grams of heroin, a class X felony and the unlawful possession of more than 900 grams of heroin, a class one felony.
Caldera-Caldera and Lopez remain free on bond while Muniz is in the Grundy County Jail on a $200,000 bond. The Sheriff’s Office would like to commend the newly implemented Pro-Active unit for a job well done.
