Three Grundy County Jail Correctional Officers were injured during an altercation around 8:50 this morning.
Grundy County Sheriff Ken Briley said a nurse was checking on George Sartore, 50, of Diamond after he faked an injury while in the shower area of the Grundy County Jail.
While with the nurse, Sartore became combative and a fight pursued. Briley said Sartore allegedly battered a female Correctional Officer in the face several times and pulled her hair.
Two other male correctional officers were battered by Sartore, who was eventually subdued by other police officials.
The three correctional officers were transported to Morris Hospital and later released. Charges are pending in this case.
Sartore was in custody of the Grundy County Jail because he is accused of pushing a man over the age of 60 up against a garage door and into a kitchen counter in the 2,000 block of East Hugh Street in Diamond around 2:20 p.m. on Sunday, January 31st.
Sartore was charged with two counts of Aggravated Battery to a victim over the age of 60, both class three felonies from the Diamond incident.
Sartore was placed on 30 months of probation on a class three felony Aggravated Battery charge out of Grundy County in 2016.
