A suspect has been arrested following a stabbing incident in Streator. On August 7 at approximately 4 a.m., Livingston County Sheriff’s patrol units responded to a possible stabbing in the area of Carriage Lanes Estate in South Streator, according to a press release from the department.

Upon arrival, officers determined that the victim had been slashed with a “Rambo style” knife and was bleeding profusely. Around 9:30 a.m., a search warrant was executed at an address in Carriage Lane Estates and Matthew Lopez, 27 of Streator, was taken into custody without incident.

Lopez is charged with aggravated battery and remains in the Livingston County Jail on a $150,000 bond. Livingston County Sheriff Tony Childress advised that the investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be possible.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was transported to St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
