State Senator Patrick Joyce is reminding the public that new agriculture laws came into effect on January 1st.

State Senator Patrick Joyce (D-Essex) serves as chair of the Senate Agriculture Committee and is a fourth generation farmer. In a statement released this week, he said he is excited that two new laws have gone into effect which will support the agriculture industry across the state.

First, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources is now required to announce via news release the dates, shooting hours, sites and counties that are open for deer hunting between September 1st and February 15th. Also, agriculture science and ag education courses for high school students may now fulfill the science education requirements for entry into an Illinois State University.
