Grundy County Coroner John Callahan’s Office along with the Illinois State Police are investigating a freak traffic crash that claimed the life of a rural Sheridan man. The incident occurred on Rt 71 near North 47 road near Newark in Kendall County on Friday. 

A vehicle traveling southbound on Rt. 71 struck a deer which sent the deer into the air and into the path of an oncoming northbound vehicle being driven by 53-year-old Christopher Daly of Sheridan. 

The deer came through the windshield and struck Daly in the head causing serious injury. Daly was transported to Morris Hospital where he was pronounced dead in the Emergency Room.

The crash remains under investigation by Callahan’s office and the Illinois State Police.
