The risk of severe weather is high for our listening area later today. The National Weather Service said strong tornadoes are possible along with golf ball size hail, damaging winds and the chance of flooding.

Weather officials say it appears that the greatest threat for tornadoes will be along and south of the Interstate 88 corridor, including the Dixon, Rochelle, DeKalb, Peru, Pontiac, Morris and Kankakee.

Thunderstorm movement will be rapidly to the northeast.
