Heavy rainfall this past weekend caused many problems in our listening area. The Morris Fire Department rescued two people from a vehicle that was on a flooded roadway on Southmor Road around 6:30 last night.
The Illinois State Police said several crashes were reported in the area of Interstate 80 westbound in Minooka due to flooding on the interstate in the westbound lanes just east of Ridge Road. It is unknown if any injuries were reported, but Interstate 80 has reopened.
Meanwhile, the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office and Grundy County EMA’s Office said heavy rain and flooding has washed out and caused areas of buckling roadway on DuPont Road and Dwight Road. DuPont Road will be closed from Baker Road East to Route 47. Dwight Road will be closed from DuPont Road South to Spring Road. Local officials say other area roadways may be flooded, so use extreme caution.
The Dwight Police Department said many roads in their village are currently flooded as they are also asking residents to please don’t drive through or around the barricades and/or water on the roadway.
