The Seneca Village Council on Tuesday discussed applying for a grant through the state.

The Rebuild Illinois Main Street and Downtown Capital program is part of $1.5 billion project authorized by the State's 2022 fiscal year budget to help jumpstart the state's economic recovery from COVID-19.

Seneca Mayor Jeff Olson said the village has a deadline of November 1st to submit a wish list and the grant deadline is Monday, January 10, 2022.

Olson also had this to report during the meeting.

Another project discussed was the need for William Street to be improved since it serves as the entrance to Graves Family Park that had an opening ceremony earlier this year.

Olson said he would look into the feasibility of including it on the wish list.
