The Seneca Village Council met on Tuesday to discuss several items.

This week the board discussed an amendment to Seneca's Code of Ordinances pertaining to Open Burning. Currently, the ordinance allowed for burning three days a week but if approved, the ordinance could be amended to allow burning of leaves and grass clippings on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. To 7:00 p.m. during the summer, and on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. To 4:00 p.m., during the winter.

Discussions included the possibility of the village renting or buying a dumpster for leaf disposal. The amendment will be on the Tuesday, Feb. 18 agenda.

The board also approved the Seneca Festival Commission officers for 2020-2021. Chairperson: Renee Schaefer-McKinney; Secretary: Marji Studemann; Treasurer: Mary Anderson; Council Representative: Mark Victor.

The board also approved a payment not to exceed $5000 to Minooka Lumber for the repair of the Crotty Park bathrooms.
