Seneca Grade School has hired a new insurance broker. During their meeting on Wednesday night, the Seneca Grade School board employed Gallagher Insurance out of Peoria as the school’s new risk insurance broker.
This will allow the school district to join an educational benefit pool after an 18-month waiting period. The pool also includes nearby districts such as Coal City and Lisle.
Superintendent Eric Misener said that over the last ten years, the district has seen an annual average increase of 3.7 percent in insurance costs and that he hopes joining the large cooperative will provide the school with a great deal of stability and protect the district from large annual insurance increases.
The school board also set it’s eighth grade graduation day to May 22nd at 7:00 p.m. Forty-five eighth graders are expected to participate in the graduation ceremony. With Reporting From Kate Reynolds, I’m Brandon Grossi.
