The Morris Police Department announced who will serve as school resource officers this upcoming year.
Morris Police Officers Scott Evans and Mike Bober are the new school resource officers at Morris Community High School and Morris Elementary School.
According to a Facebook post by the police department, both officers are certified through the National Association of School Resource Officers, an organization that aims to promote safer schools and safer children.
Officer Evans, a six-year veteran of the department, took over SRO duties at Morris Community High School last school year after long-time SRO Steve Huetteman was promoted to Sergeant.
Officer Bober, who came to the department in early 2018 after 22 years with the Chicago Police Department, will patrol Morris Elementary School.
The Facebook post poked a little fun at the officers, as well – joking that that the duo won’t know anyone, won’t remember their locker combination and might face the possibility of having no one to sit with at lunch.
Ending on a serious note, police officials say they appreciate the opportunity to work with the schools and the relationships developed with faculty, staff and students.
