The Kendall County Health Department awarded numerous scholarships to local students.
Jane Swinney and Kathy Braden, board members of Kendall-Grundy Community Action – a division of the Kendall County Health Department – awarded 8 area students with Community Service Block Grant scholarships at its annual scholarship dinner.
The scholarships are made possible by funding from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.
The recipients were chosen on a competitive basis; factoring in scholarship potential, commitment to civic affairs and career goals with awards ranging from $500 to $1,375.
Award winners are attending various schools, including Waubonsee Community College, North Central College and University of St. Francis.
The health department said they are pleased to be able to help promote the bright futures of these inspiring individuals.
