A record amount of precipitation has fallen in Grundy County so far this year.
According to the Grundy County Emergency Management Agency, the total liquid precipitation this year through October equates to 56.65 inches. That breaks the previous record of 51.7 inches set back in 2009. The total liquid precipitation for the month of September was 14.78 inches.
EMA Director Joe Schroeder said there was 16 days with measurable rain in September. In October, Grundy County had 11 days of rainfall equating to 5.87 inches. Grundy County also had the first snowfall of the winter season, which totaled 1.1 inches.
Meanwhile, the average daily temperature for the month was 51.7 degrees. The warmest day was on October 1st when it was 89 and the coolest day of 25 degrees came on October 31st.
