Damaging winds are expected for our listening area on Wednesday. A high wind warning will start at 6 a.m. and conclude at 6 p.m. on November 27th.

Weather officials say the highest gusts could be up 60 miles per hour. The Illinois State Police said if you plan to travel tonight, early tomorrow morning, or tomorrow during the day, your travel may be interrupted by truck tractors/semi trailers that will be blown over.

It is not uncommon for high profile vehicles such as semis to overturn on the roadway in 60 mph crosswinds. These rollovers could potentially delay your travel by closing roads off.

Weather officials also say damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Power outages are expected and anything outdoors not secured, will be blown away. They also say people should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches.

If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows.
