During the first week of Veto Session, State Representative Lindsay Parkhurst sponsored several pieces of legislation to push for ethics reform in Springfield.
The legislation includes HB 361, HB 3947, and HJR 87. Parkhurst said HB 361 introduces penalties for members of the general assembly who violate government ethics laws.
HB 3947 bans legislators and family members to be compensating for lobbying any level of government in Illinois. HJR 87 creates a task force to examine Illinois government ethics laws and to make recommendations to the general assembly.
HB 361 and HB 3947 are in the House Rules Committee. HJR 87 is assigned the House Executive Committee.
