The 10th annual Liberty 5K on July 3 was a huge success.

Morris Downtown Development Partnership Executive Director Julie Applegate said 510 people participated and 480 finished the race.

In 2018, 404 runners finished the Liberty 5K.

Finishing first overall was 25-year-old Alex Garcia with a time of 15 minutes and 34 seconds and coming in second place was 21-year-old Zach Chapman crossing the finishing line at 15 minutes and 50 seconds.

The first female to cross the finish line was 15-year-old Audrey Jenkins with a time of 20 minutes and 24 seconds.

The annual Liberty 5k supports and recognizes the U.S. Military.

Meanwhile, Applegate said anybody who ran in the Liberty 5K can still qualify for awesome prizes by participating in other races in the Run 4 Morris circuit.
