A small electrical fire forced evacuations at Regency Care on Twilight Drive in Morris around 3 p.m. on Monday, August 10th.
The Morris Fire Department said residents had to evacuate due to smoke in the building.
Several ambulances from nearby towns were called due to the residents of the nursing home being outside in the blistering hot conditions while firefighters addressed the situation inside.
One person was transported to Morris Hospital for heat related issues. No other injuries were reported and all the evacuees were back into the building before the severe storms hit the area.
The Morris Fire Department was assisted by Minooka, Coal City, Braidwood, Wilmington, Gardner and several others at the scene.
