One of three men has pleaded guilty in Livingston County to battering an inmate at the Pontiac Correctional Center in Pontiac.
James Fike, 31, of Bloomington, Jason Cremer, 45, of Odell and Giovanni Rodriguez, 21, of Normal were charged with official misconduct, a class three felony and battery.
Livingston County court records show Cremer, Fike and Rodriquez, who were all working as Correctional Officers, allegedly struck inmate Asante Brown in early February.
The Illinois Department of Corrections said Brown is serving a two year sentence for criminal sexual abuse, a class four felony out of Champaign County.
IDOC records show Brown is now incarcerated at the Illinois River Correctional Center. Court records indicate Fike pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor battery charge and was placed on one year of conditional discharge.
As part of the plea agreement, Fike must serve 88 days in the Livingston County Jail and the felony charge was dropped. Meanwhile, the court cases for Cremer and Rodriguez remain ongoing.
It is unclear, if the three men are still employed with the Illinois Department of Corrections.
