The Grundy County Law and Justice Committee on Thursday approved a resolution with Abe’s Catering to provide meals for inmates at the Grundy County Jail.

Earlier this year, the Grundy County Board was notified that Weitz Cafe would no longer be providing their service after 30 years.

County Administrator George Gray spoke about the new contract with Abe’s.

The company will be required to provide meals three times a day, 365 days a year.

The Grundy County Sheriff’s Department said there has been an average of 30 inmates per day at the jail this year.

The contract with Abe’s Catering awaits approval by the Grundy County Board.
