A 22-year-old Morris woman was arrested after a DUI related crash that occurred in the 300 block of East Route 6 around 3:30 p.m. on December 3rd.
The Morris Police Department said a vehicle driven by Saydie Burkhead allegedly rear-ended a vehicle driven by Christina Horrie, 35, of Diamond at an intersection near Wal-Mart. Christina, her husband and their two kids were in the vehicle at the time.
Horrie told an officer they were stop waiting for a traffic signal when they were allegedly struck from behind. Horrie then told officers that Burkhead did not stop after the accident, but they were able to get her license plate number.
The Morris Police Department said they were able to locate Burkhead’s vehicle on Armstrong Street as she was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs, leaving the scene of an accident, failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
Burkhead told officers she lightly struck the rear of the vehicle and admitted to being high on marijuana. No injuries were reported and Burkhead remains free on bond.
