The grand opening for the new City of Morris Ice Skating Rink is scheduled for Wednesday, December 1st at 4:00 p.m.

Morris Mayor Chris Brown said they are still in the process of installing lights and getting the ice conditioned and to the proper level, but a lot of progress has been made in the last week.

He said the 80 by 40 foot rink can have 125 skaters at once on the ice and is free for people to skate on, but ice skates will not be available. Brown said the rink will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day.

He also said hockey will be allowed during designated hours which include Monday thru Thursday from 8:00 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday & Sunday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Goals will not be installed for hockey purposes.
